Brilliant light yellow with greenish tints and a lively nose, with hints of gooseberry, passion fruit, melon, lychee and a note of honeysuckle. Rounded and mellow on the palate, crisp and well structured with superb length and balance.
The 75 hectares of vineyards at Alpha Estate are entirely privately owned, a rarity in Greece, ensuring complete control of the vineyards, which are cultivated sustainably and with an absolute focus on quality. The vineyards include a very special, ungrafted, Xinomavro parcel planted in 1919, along with new plantings (from 1995 onwards) of both indigenous and international varieties, including Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Malagouzia, Pinot Noir, Negro Amaro, Montepulciano, Tannat, Barbera, Mavrodaphne, Merlot, Syrah, and Xinomavro.
The grapes were grown in 16ha of privately owned vineyard situated at an altitude of 620-710m on well drained sandy clay soil over limestone. They were manually harvested in 15kg baskets followed by destemming, optical grape sorting and light crushing. Skin contact took place for 4-8 hours, with fermentation in cooled stainless steel tanks with cooling jackets. The wine was kept on the lees for four months with regular stirring.
