More info

Amarone DOCG Ca'Rugate is made with grapes from a vineyard on the hills of Montecchiadi Crosara.

In September the best grapes are selected and laid flat in small boxes and are left to dry gently in well ventilated humidity-controlled rooms for around 2-3 months. The grapes are then crushed and fermented for about 20-30 days. The must is put into 500l oak casks to finish fermenting. The wine matures in wood for 24 months before bottling.

Ca'Rugate is one of the most Three Glasses awarded producer in Italy and is ranked by the New York Times among the 'top 5 producers of high end Soave'. The story of the estate begins when Amedeo Tessari, an Innkeeper owning a few plots of vines in Soave area, founded and developed the wine production in the early 1900s. Despite the difficult times of the two World Wars, the Tessari family kept developing and pioneering the Piemontese wine's expansion. The Estate was renamed Ca'Rugate in 1986, taking its name from the volcanic hills on which the vineyard are located. The Ca'Rugate vineyards now cover 58 hectares, 35 of which are located within the commune of Montecchiadi Crosara in Valpolicella.

Ca'Rugate

The family business has been handed down through the generations of the Tessari family since the early 1900s. The estate was renamed Ca'Rugate in 1986, taking its name from the volcanic hills where the vineyards are located. Now run by the fourth generation, Michele has brought with him a lively, passionate and entrepreneurial spirit. Considerable expansion has taken place in recent years with investment in a new technologically advanced cellar and expansion into the Valpolicella area with the purchase of vineyards in the hilly zone of Montecchia di Crosara. The estate now covers 90 hectares of vineyard. Ca'Rugate has been awarded the prestigious 'Tre Bicchieri' award rating from Gambero Rosso multiple times, making it one of the most awarded producers in the competition and has been hailed by the New York Times as one of the "Top Five producers of High-End Soave".
