Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is a rich, modern Chianti that marries beautifully ripe cherry fruit with well-judged smoky oak notes. The opulence on the palate is tempered by savoury notes of clove and a firm structure supporting the plump fruit.

More info

Villa Antinori began life as a Chianti Classico Riserva in 1928, and with the 2011 vintage reinstated this iconic wine within the range. The harvest took place from mid-September to early October.

After destemming and gentle crushing, maceration lasted twelve days in stainless steel vats, at a maximum of 30ºC. The blend was aged in oak until the second spring after the harvest. Sixty percent was aged in large casks, and the remainder in barrique, including a small proportion of new Hungarian barrels.

Antinori

The Antinori family have been producing wine in Tuscany for six centuries, and exporting it for four. The purchase of the Tignanello estate in 1900 marked the beginning of a remarkable period of expansion which shows no signs of abating. Through judicious acquisition of vineyards and an uncanny knack for developing iconic wines, Antinori has become Tuscany’s – arguably Italy’s – pre-eminent wine producer, with an important presence in Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria and Puglia as well as their Tuscan heartland.
