Exclusively from the family’s own 200 ha of vineyards located on mineral-rich, morainic hillsides surrounding Lake Iseo at altitudes up to 500 metres above sea level. The vines with an average 25 years old are planted at a density of 5,000 vines per ha, are Guyot, spur cordon and Sylvoz trained and cultivated using organic fertiliser and sustainable minimal viticultural practices. Grapes are hand picked.
The grapes undergo a slow and soft mechanical pressing in Coquard presses followed by decanting at cool temperatures. Fermentation using inoculated yeasts in stainless steel at between 15°C and 18°C and partly in barrel between 23°C and 28°C, then matured for 6/7 months. Part of the Pinot Nero is vinified as a red wine on the skins. The proportion of oak is 39% with the rest in stainless steel. The assemblage is created from 30 vintage selections some of which have matured in small white casks. followed by vinification using the traditional method with second fermentation in the bottle, left on lees for around 48 months.
The Bellavista winery, meaning beautiful view, was founded in 1977 in Erbusco by the Moretti family. Extending over 207 hectares of land, the Bellavista winery produces 1,500,000 bottles a year, according to organic viticulture principles. Franciacorta's unique terroir, nestled between the pre-Alps and Lake Iseo, benefits from glacial soils and a mild, breezy climate ideal for grape growing. Vittorio Moretti, in a pioneering way, was the first to invest in other types of activities in the Franciacorta area with the aim of realizing his dream of owning a French-style Château. Today his wine resort hosts many events such as weddings, culinary experiences and corporate hospitality. Bellavista still maintains a large part of tradition in the production chain with vineyards scattered throughout Franciacorta.
