Bright and aromatic aromas of white fruits and delicate floral notes lead to a refreshing and beautifully balanced palate, with a vibrant fruit character and a crisp finish.
The fruit comes from the El Renegado vineyard which is situated in one of the premium winemaking areas in the DO Utiel-Requena. The vineyard lies approximately 50 miles inland from Valencia and has a distinct microclimate, which is best described as Mediterranean although it does have some continental influences due to its altitude, which varies from 800-900 metres. The diurnal temperature differences contribute to the aromatic profile and the nightly drop in temperatures helps the fruit to retain natural acidity. The warm summer sunshine encourages ripening, resulting in balanced fruit. The average annual temperature is 13.9°C and annual rainfall is on average 43 litres, which mostly falls in the spring and autumn. The grapes are picked at night when the temperature has dropped in order to fully preserve the aromatic properties. The vineyard is cultivated without synthetic herbicides and is certified organic.
The grapes were carefully sorted to ensure only quality fruit was vinified. The grapes were gently pressed and the must was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks to preserve the white fruit characters of the Macabeo and the delicate floral nuances from the Moscatel. Maturation took place in stainless steel without oak to retain the crisp, refreshing and fruity style.

Driven by his passion for winemaking, Adolfo de las Heras Marín founded Bodegas y Viñedos de Utiel in 1985, acquiring one of the estates with the greatest ecological and oenological value in the Valencian Region. El Renegado spans 540 hectares and includes a vineyard and a forest; 80% of the vineyards grow the native Bobal grape and are more than 40 years old. Adolfo was a pioneer in introducing other varieties such as Merlot or Cabernet into the area. He was also one of the first viticulturists to make high-quality bottled wine. His son, Adolfo de las Heras Polo, revolutionised the winery at the end of the 90s when he took over. He began to produce wines with greater ageing in barrels, from different types of French oak that imbued the wines with greater complexity and distinction.
