Domaine Rene Monnier Bourgogne Pinot Noir has a lovely Pinot Noir typicity on the nose with wild raspberry, ripe cherry and savoury notes. Pure vibrant red berry fruit is enveloped by velvety tannins on the palate through to a long, elegant finish.
The vineyards are farmed according to "la lutte raisonnée", using sustainable agriculture methods, reducing the use of chemicals in order to respect the land and its environment. The soils in the vineyard are limestone mixed with marl, retaining moisture in dry weather, but also offering good drainage in cooler weather.
Picked at optimum maturity, the grapes were vinified using traditional methods. Prefermentation maceration lasted for six days to extract aromas, flavour and fine tannins. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks over two weeks followed by maturation in French oak barrels for 10 months, of which 30% were new.
