More info

Provence is a land of lavender, garrigue and beautiful coastlines. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards across the region, carefully selected to showcase the essence of the IGP Méditerranée. The IGP brings together fruit from well-defined terroirs, with unique geographical specificities, where the expression of the terroir and the grape varieties remains at the heart of the producers' requirements, rather than the location of the vineyard. This cuvée consists of traditional Provençal varieties which have been meticulously cultivated from partner growers. The climate is Mediterranean, with the region enjoying 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and the long, dry summers providing excellent harvesting conditions. Winds such as the Mistral punctuate the warm, dry southern French climate and are a significant factor in maintaining healthy vineyards.

The grapes were harvested during the cool of the night, carefully sorted and cooled further to around 10°C for optimal maceration. Some of the juices were macerated on the skins for an enhanced aromatic profile. Fermentation took place at 14°C and 16°C to retain the fruity characteristics. Ageing on fine lees in stainless steel vats before bottling in the late winter preserved the wine’s distinctive freshness.

Château de Berne

Château de Berne has a long winemaking heritage, with traces of vine-growing dating back to Roman times. Today, the estate extends over almost 510 hectares of unspoilt countryside, of which, 150 hectares are dedicated to the vine. The vineyards are located in the Haut-Pays region, known as the ‘Provence of the Interior’, where the terroir consists of chalky limestone hills and valleys. Château de Berne is committed to protecting the natural environment, as well as the people who work there, and holds the High Environmental Value Level 3 sustainability certification. Since February 2021, the estate vines have also been certified as organically grown. Oenologist Alexis Cornu crafts wines with respect for nature and mankind, while fully expressing the Mediterranean terroir. The elegant wines offer aromatic complexity, remarkable finesse and are full of character. The square bottle is the emblem of Château de Berne, referring to the two-18th century square towers at the entrance of the estate.
