Collavini Il Grigio Brut NV

VCGBNV

New product

A pale, star-bright straw colour is shot through with greenish highlights and shows a persistent mousse of fine bubbles. A fresh and aromatic nose of fragrant golden delicious apple and ripe pears combines with warm crusty bread tones. The aromatic palate is harmoniously rounded, with a delicate touch of citrus and a very long finish.

More info

The Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio vines are grown on the hillsides and flatlands of Friuli Venezia Giulia, yielding approximately 85 to 90 quintals per hectare. Guyot and spur Cordon trained, the vines are planted at an average density of 4,600 vines per hectare and are grown in chalky soils.

This wine is crafted from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio grapes. The vinification was traditional with the fermentation taking place off the skins, following a very soft crushing. The secondary fermentation took place at 14°C in vertical pressure tanks in the following spring. The wine remained on its fine lees for a period of five to six months, imparting extra richness and texture to the resulting wine. This extended yeast autolysis of this Marinotti method is Il Grigio Spumante's seal of quality.

Collavini

The Collio region, a strip of hills bordering Slovenia, is reputed to have one of Europe's most privileged micro-climates for white wines, while the red wines are also noted for their appeal. Founded by Eugenio Collavini in 1896, this family-owned winery is now run by Manlio Collavini together with his sons Giovanni and Luigi. Located in Udine, they were the first to make a sparkling wine out of Ribolla Gialla – an ancient local variety – and to implement new wine making technologies. Collavini prides itself on its clean, modern style wines, while still retaining the traditions and grape varieties native to the area. Collavini's 'Broy' is a multiple TreBicchieri winner and is recognised as one of Italy's top white wines. As keen dog lovers, the Collavini’s very first pet Dachshund 'Ribolla' is portrayed on the label.
