Domaine Saint Damien Gigondas is a delicious oak-aged blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvèdre, made at this family estate in the small hamlet of La Baumette just outside the town of Gigondas. The flavours are of ripe, concentrated plum and cinnamon spice; the wine has a fantastic, rich mid-palate which expands onto an exceptional finish.
The estate is located in the small hamlet of La Baumette just outside the town of Gigondas. This is one of the appellation’s finest terroirs, its sun-drenched vineyards strewn with large galets roulés stones, similar to those found in Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Winemaker Joël Saurel owns 20 hectares of vines, many of which are more than 100 years old.
The wine is made very traditionally and bottled without fining or filtering, which gives a full-bodied, complex classic Gigondas.
