More info

The Feudi di San Gregorio vineyards are spread out over lush and gentle hills in Sorbo Serpico, approximately an hour from Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The grapes for this wine come from a mosaic of plots around Tufo, Santa Paolina and Montefusco. The vineyards are situated between 350 and 700 metres above sea level and the soils are volcanic, with a good percentage of clay. The climate is not the type of climate typically associated with southern Italy as the winters can be harsh and often snowy and the summers are breezy rather than scorching hot. The intense diurnal temperature variation, the winds that sweep through the vineyards and the exposure to the warming sun results in a unique combination set to express the full potential of the grapes. The 15-year-old Greco vines are Guyot trained and are cultivated sustainably, with concentrated soil and canopy management to maintain the health and the aromatic purity of the grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested.

Agronomist Pierpaolo Sirch and top Champagne producer Anselme Selosse collaborated in 2004 to form a “double act” combining the excellence of Anselme's winemaking skill with Pierpaolo's deep understanding of the Irpinian terroir and indigenous varieties, culminating in the launch of “DUBL”. Edition II was vinified using the traditional method: the must underwent cold static settling at 12°C for 36 hours and fermented in stainless steel tanks at 16-18°C. The wines were carefully blended, the pied de cuve was added and the secondary bottle fermentation took place, which lasted around two months. The wine spent 24 months ageing on the lees. Riddling took place in gyropalettes before the liqueur d'expedition of 6g/l was added. The distinctive bottle was designed by Massimo Vignelli and in 2022 Dubl became the first Italian Classic Method wine to obtain B Corp & Equalitas certification.

Feudi di San Gregorio

One of the main protagonists in the renaissance of Southern Italian wines, Feudi di San Gregorio had carved out a reputation for making truly world-class wines in less than 30 years. The company began in the mid-1980s with the aim of safeguarding local traditions and unlocking the potential of key indigenous grapes such as Fiano, Greco, Falanghina and Aglianico. In 2021, Feudi di San Gregorio received the B Corporation (B Corp) certification, rewarding companies whose aim is to be a positive and regenerative force for the environment and the community. The same year, Feudi was also awarded the Equalitas certification which officially recognises social, environmental and economic pillars of sustainability, through biodiversity, carbon and water footprint and ecological cultivation practices. As a multi award-winning producer for its outstanding wines, Feudi di San Gregorio also features in the 2021 Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries.
