Hollywood Farm Columbia Valley Chardonnay is a food-friendly wine, crafted in a fresh, soft style with bright apple and sweet citrus fruit character with subtle spice and oak nuances.
The Hollywood Farm near Seattle is considered the birthplace of the Washington wine industry. In 1934, the resident Stimson Family, founders of the Hollywood Farm, believed in a brighter future for the wine industry and began developing viticulture in Eastern Washington.
Today, Washington State is a highly-esteemed, world-class wine region with countless awards for its unique profile and consistently high quality. A tribute to the region’s origins, the wines of Hollywood Farm Estates showcase the essence of the Washington style.
Columbia Valley vineyards lie in the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains and receive just 6-8 inches of rainfall annually. Warm, sunny days and cool evenings create ideal conditions for aroma and flavour development. Its northerly latitude gives the Columbia Valley nearly two more hours of sunlight daily during the peak growing season than other USA regions like California.
The Columbia Valley blend is made from multiple vineyard lots resulting in a complex, layered Chardonnay. 45% tank fermented Chardonnay was added to the blend to make a fresh style of Chardonnay. The wine is aged sur lie for more than six months in both French and American oak barrels, 9% new, to soften the wine and integrate the fruit and oak flavours.
