Lagar de Cervera Lindeiros Albariño, Rías Baixas 2022

Lindeiros is a tribute to the history of Galicia. Traditionally, in Galicia, Albariño was planted as a border between two estates as a boundary known as the ‘Linde’, from which it takes its name. This flagship wine is made from 100% Albariño grapes sourced from the 3.8-hectare Troviscoso estate in Cambados. Planted in 1987, it was acquired in 2021 as it is adjacent to the existing Viña Deiro estate vineyard. The soils are granitebased. In Rías Baixas, heavy rainfall and high humidity in the soil gradually penetrates the granitic rock, wearing it down and decomposing its structure, which allows the vines’ roots to penetrate the soils. The traditional trellis system is used for cultivation, which suits the local climate. The proximity of the sea influences the vineyard, with its gentle maritime breezes, creating a cool microclimate allowing the grapes to slowly develop aromatic and flavour complexity and imparting a delicate saline character to the wine. The grapes were hand-picked at optimal maturity.

Vinification took place in the new, state-of-the-art winery. The grapes were carefully sorted and fermented at 15°C in three different vessels: a 600-litre concrete egg-shaped tank, 400-litre French oak barrels, and the remainder in stainless steel tanks. The wine was aged for 12 months, on the fine lees in the same fermentation vessels: 25% in oak barrels, 25% in the concrete egg and 50% in stainless steel tanks. During the maturation period, work with the fine lees took place imparting texture and complexity. Blending took place prior to bottling.
