An elegant and refreshing Picpoul de Pinet, with aromatic grapefruit and citrus notes underpinned by characteristic minerality through to a zesty, mouthwatering finish.
The vineyard is planted in the Picpoul de Pinet appellation, overlooking the fishing town of Sete and adjacent to the salt lagoon the Étang de Thau, which is famous for its oyster beds. This large lagoon influences the climate by contributing to cooler evenings and nights and by depositing humidity onto the vine leaves, which translates into vibrant freshness in the wine. The vineyard is located on a calcareous plateau with a full southern exposure, rich in pockets of limestone with fossils and oyster shells from the proximity of the sea. The vineyard is surrounded by pine trees and fragrant scrubland known locally as ‘garrigue’. The vines are machine harvested to ensure the fruit remains fresh as possible.
The grapes were sorted to ensure only healthy, ripe fruit was vinified. Direct pressing took place, followed by clarification through sedimentation. The clarified juice was fermented at controlled temperatures of around 16 to 18°C with selected yeasts, in stainless steel tanks to retain the purity of fruit. Following fermentation, the wine was rested in tank with lees contact and bâtonnage for two months imparting delicate complexity and a creamy texture to the wine.

The Costières de Pomérols is a dynamic and enterprising cooperative based in the heart of Picpoul de Pinet, just a stone’s throw from the famous Étang de Thau. The original Cave de Pomérols was founded in 1932 and since then it has grown, prospered and undergone significant modernisation. Following mergers with local Caves during the early 2000s, the cooperative was renamed as Les Costières de Pomérols. At present, the coop contracts over 300 highly skilled and knowledgeable winegrowers, who collectively pour their passion into each and every bottle to showcase their local terroir and the deliciously refreshing character of Picpoul de Pinet.
