Masottina Collezione 96 Extra Dry Prosecco NV

New product

The pale straw colour is enlivened by fine, lingering perlage. Its aromatic intensity presents hints of citrus fruit such as lemons, grapefruit and limes, which then make way for an end note of apples and pears. Fresh and lively, the hints of citrus and ripe fruit experienced on the nose return leading to a soft and harmonious finish.

More info

Collezione 96 originates from the outstanding award, 96 points, that Masottina Prosecco DOC Brut achieved at the wine competition held by Decanter Magazine in 2017. Vines are Guyot trained and vineyards tended sustainably according to the standards of National Quality System of Integrated Production (SQNPI. The region's hilly terrain, ranging in altitude, combined with Veneto's varied climate of warm summers and mild winters, provides ideal growing conditions.

The selected hand picked grapes are fermented off the skins at a controlled temperature of 15-18°C. The prise de mousse and lees maturation normally take place for approximately 60 days in pressure tanks, on selected yeasts, at a temperature of 13-14°C. The wine is aged for at least one month before distribution.

Masottina

The story of Masottina can be traced back to the 5 hectares of vineyards acquired in 1946 by Epifanio Dal Bianco. When the manor house overlooking the vineyard was restored, an ancient inscription came to light: Casa Masottina. Hence the name of the historic brand owned by the Dal Bianco family for three generations. Today Masottina wines are the product of almost 300 hectares which extend across the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Hills and the Veneto region. A vine planted area built up over time, consisting of carefully chosen vines cultivated by the family in keeping with the sustainable rules of SQNPI. It is however in the hills of Ogliano that Masottina’s production and quality philosophy is expressed at its best, through the ‘Cru’ wines grown in this unique terroir: R.D.O. Ponente and R.D.O. Levante, which thanks to Wine Spectator have placed the Rive di Ogliano for the first time in the magazine’s TOP 100 most important wines in the world.
