Generous fragrances of lime, acacia blossoms, and wisteria entwine with hints of fruit such as pears, Golden Delicious apples, bergamot and pink grapefruit. On the palate, it is lively, saline and well structured with notable hints of quince, lemons and herbs, which combine in a pleasant, lingering finish.
Rive di Ogliano is the hilly subzone in the south east of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG area where the Dal Bianco family farms 20% of the vine growing area. The steep and hilly vineyards require almost 800 hours of manpower per hectare every year and vary from a minimum of 60 to a maximum of 170 metres above sea level, providing an excellent climate with constant ventilation and lower than average rainfall. It is the only area of Conegliano-Valdobbiadene of glacial origin that has given rise to morainic soils, of which Ogliano is one of the best expressions, with its rich and fertile soil where water can easily reach the lower strata to ensure a natural reserve, useful in times of drought. R.D.O. Levante is produced from a vineyard with vines that are over 60 years old which is east-facing and benefits from a constant breeze. Vines are Guyot trained and vineyards tended sustainably according to the standards of National Quality System of Integrated Production (SQNPI).
The selected hand picked grapes are vinified by gravity and fermented off the skins at a controlled temperature of 15-18°C. The prise de mousse and lees maturation normally take place for approximately 120 days in pressure tanks, on selected yeasts, at a temperature of 13-14°C.

The story of Masottina can be traced back to the 5 hectares of vineyards acquired in 1946 by Epifanio Dal Bianco. When the manor house overlooking the vineyard was restored, an ancient inscription came to light: Casa Masottina. Hence the name of the historic brand owned by the Dal Bianco family for three generations. Today Masottina wines are the product of almost 300 hectares which extend across the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Hills and the Veneto region. A vine planted area built up over time, consisting of carefully chosen vines cultivated by the family in keeping with the sustainable rules of SQNPI. It is however in the hills of Ogliano that Masottina’s production and quality philosophy is expressed at its best, through the ‘Cru’ wines grown in this unique terroir: R.D.O. Ponente and R.D.O. Levante, which thanks to Wine Spectator have placed the Rive di Ogliano for the first time in the magazine’s TOP 100 most important wines in the world.
