This Grenache Blanc has a lemon yellow colour in the glass. It is fresh and unoaked, and has a lovely depth of citrus fruit notes that combine nicely with its attractive lifted nose.
Situated on ancient terraces called ‘Costières’ which date back to the Pliocene period, soils are a mix of limestone, red marl, clay, sand and stone. These low-lying coastal hills overlook the Mediterranean Sea and the Bassin de Thau lagoon. The gentle sea breezes and microclimate around the lagoon help to moderate temperatures and preserve freshness and acidity in the grapes.
The fruit was harvested and underwent skin-contact maceration for several hours before being gently pressed in a pneumatic press in order to retain the fresh, primary fruit flavours. The free-run juice was cold settled at 8°C prior to fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 15°C.

Monrouby is a small village in the Languedoc, close to Pomérols, in which the Baron de Badassière and the Vignes de L’Eglise wines are produced. The wines are made by Matt Thomson of Blank Canvas and winemaker Marguerite Vasseur who vinify several varieties separately due to the exceptional quality of the fruit.
These vineyards are located on low-lying hills, where the Bassin de Thau (a string of lakes) moderates the climate. As there is little rain in the summer, the gentle breezes from the lakes and the Mediterranean Sea lower evaporation and, in turn, reduce vine stress.
