This complex Sauvignon Blanc offers layered aromas of grapefruit, lime and gooseberry, lifted by spicy-citrus notes of lemongrass and lemon verbena. The palate is intensely fruity, with excellent weight and texture.
The fruit for this wine comes from the Belén property in the cold Lo Ovalle sector of Casablanca. The clay and granitic soils of limited fertility and the valley’s maritime influence enable the production of grapes with high aromatic expression and abundant freshness. The vineyard is vertically positioned, guyot pruned, and drip irrigated. The harvest took place in mid-April.
After crushing, seventy percent of the grapes were pressed, and the remainder was given 6 hours’ skin contact at 5ºC. Fermentation took place at 10-12ºC over 26-30 days. No malolactic fermentation took place, but carbon dioxide was used to rouse the lees in tank, adding to the wine’s texture.

Morandé was founded in 1996 by Pablo Morandé, and found immediate recognition both domestically and abroad. Morandé are true pioneers – they were the first family to develop the Casablanca D.O., recognising the fantastic potential of this cool-climate wine region. They also led the way in reviving old viticultural regions such as Maule and Itata, working with old dry-farmed bush vines and unconventional varieties such as Carignan, País and Cinsault. All of the wines are produced with grapes from Morandé’s own vineyards. Their winemaking philosophy is guided by seeking the right terroir for each grape variety, and with significant vineyard holdings they are well placed to achieve this.
