The Paso Robles AVA, nestled in California's Central Coast, is defined by its diverse topography with rolling hills and varied microclimates. The region is carved by the Salinas River, which meanders through its heart. The soils are varied and range from limestone, shale, alluvial and are dotted with ancient volcanic soils that lend complexity and character to the wines. This varied landscape creates a patchwork of microclimates and terroirs. Paso Robles has a warm, Mediterranean climate, characterised by long, sunny days and cool nights. This diurnal shift produces balanced wines with vibrant acidity and concentrated flavours. The region's proximity to the Pacific Ocean brings cool, moist air and fog, particularly in the Templeton Gap, a break in the Santa Lucia Mountains that funnels maritime influence eastward. This cooling effect helps to moderate temperatures and extend the growing season, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly. The fruit is sourced from four different vineyards that are located at elevations of up to 365 metres in the Estrella, San Juan Creek and the Highlands districts. Each block has a different elevation, soil type, row direction, clone and rootstock imparting complexity to the blend.
The grapes were manually harvested and sorted before being vinified in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, retaining the purity of fruit and expression of each of the vineyard sites. The wine was then blended and aged in American oak for six months.

Growing up in the heart of Napa Valley, winemaker Laura Orozco is intimately familiar with what makes a great wine. Her family is originally from Mexico, however, her father moved to the United States in the early 1970s to work in the vineyards and follow the ‘golden path’ to provide a better future for his family. Paso d'Oro is the Spanish phrase for "Way of Gold," which pays tribute to Orozco's family journey. The name also evokes the California sunshine that paints the golden hills and valleys of the Paso Robles landscape. Laura aims to produce wines that are true to the variety and with a sense of place, her award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon does just that. The project is certified sustainable by Lodi Rules, which supports the farmers, vintners, and an entire agricultural community who embrace their responsibility to care for the environment and the people.
