Pinord Seleccion Brut Cava NV is a rich, yet floral 'traditional method' sparkling wine, made from the traditional Catalan grapes of Parellada, Xarel-Lo and Macabeo. It undergoes extended lees ageing to increase its intensity of flavour. Made in the region of Penedès, Spain's centre of Cava production, this bubbly is delicious served at parties or on sunny days.
The story of Bodegas Pinord started more than 150 years ago, when the Tetas family began to make wines on their estate at Sant Cugat Sesgarrigues from grapes they grew themselves and vinified in the traditional way. Since then, the wines produced by the family have been growing in prestige and the family name has become inseparably linked to the name of Penedés wine.
In 1942 José Maria Tetas established the existing wine cellars at Vilafranca del Penedés, only 4 km from the original estate. At the present time, Pinord has facilities that can produce more than five million bottles a year, whilst retaining the family integrity and quality standards for which they have become well-known in the area. Today, three generations work together in the family business.
The Cava won a Silver medal at the 2018 Sommelier Wine Awards:
‘Bright, with fresh stone fruit aromas, lasting mouthfeel and notes of confit fruit,’ began Timothy Connor of Core by Clare Smyth, with Cheese at Leadenhall’s Robert Mason noting ‘red cherry, peach and apricot, lime zest aromas, weighty and complex with elegance, depth and a classic note of understated sharpness on the finish’.
