New product
Mineral and ferrous notes are joined by dried herbs on the nose. The palate is elegant, with a tannic structure that would enable this wine to age gracefully.
The grapes are harvested from the Rizzi Cru, a large vineyard with a range of different altitudes, soil types and exposures across the site.
The grapes were picked into small crates in the first ten days of October. The must was fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures not exceeding 30C for a period of three to four weeks. The wine was then racked prior to malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for twelve months in large oak barrels, before transfer to concrete vats for a further six to nine months prior to bottling.

Rizzi is the name of a hill in Treiso, one of the three commune that makes up Barbaresco, and it was to this hill that entrepreneur Ernesto Dellapiana returned in 1974, exchanging his life in Turin for the chance to farm his historic family estate. Since then the vineyards have expanded to 44 hectares, including three hectares in the magnificent Pajorè cru, and the company is now run by Ernesto's two children, Enrico and Jole. The winery is simple, with concrete tanks for fermentation and large oak casks for ageing. The result - a traditional style with a modern sensibility, full yet delicate, and always expressing the magical floral perfume of Barbaresco.
