Displaying typical Albariño character and aromatic richness, this surprisingly intense wine shows hints of pear, apricot and ripe exotic fruits complemented by a vibrant citrus character and hints of mineral and spice. Clean, fresh and long on the palate.
Adegas Valmiñor was established in 1997, in the southernmost region of the Rías Baixas DO, O Rosal where the fashionable Albariño grape flourishes. Award winning winemaker Christina Mantilla combines a minimal intervention approach in a beautifully equipped modern winery to give a true expression of the local terroir.
There are thirty-four hectares of vines with an average age of thirty-five years, planted in four vineyards. Trained on a combination of wires and the traditional pergolas, the intensely mineral soils comprise metamorphic schist, alluvial clay and granitic sand strewn with pebbles. Grapes are hand-harvested into twenty-kilo baskets and then hand-sorted in the cellar.
The grapes were cold-macerated for eight hours at 10ºC before cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine spent five to six months on its lees before cold stabilisation, filtration and bottling.
