Umani Ronchi Plenio Riserva Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio 2022

URPRV22

New product

The palate reveals flavours of crisp pears, lemon peel and peach blossom, followed by a mineral, chalky note. Medium-weight, with a rich texture, deftly lifted by the bracing vein of acidity running through to the finish.

More info

The grapes come from a vineyard near to the village of Cupramontana, planted in the early 1990s on an east facing hillside, between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, on deep clay and loam soils with poor fertility. The grapes were harvested by hand from the end of September to early October at a yield of seven to nine tons per hectare.

The grapes were gently pressed and rapidly cooled before undergoing a spell of static settling. Alcoholic fermentation took place in a mix of 60% temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and 40% 5,000 litre oak casks. 10-15% of the wine went through malolactic fermentation. The wine then spent a further twelve months ageing on its lees in tank and in barrel, and a further six months in bottle before release.

Today Umani Ronchi includes a total surface of 210 hectares spread between the hills and the sea along the Adriatic coast. The 185 km of rows are distributed across ten districts, each with its own vocation and terroir. Ethic and respect for territory and its biodiversity reflect a sustainable way of thinking and acting.
