Quinta da Romaneira LBV Unfiltered Port 2019
The wines from Quinta da Romaneira always have an aromatic intensity that is particular to this great wine terroir. This Romaneira LBV Port is seductive, charming and very expressive, with great depth and aging potential. Deep dark ruby-purple colour with intense aromatic personality, multiple spices, wild berries, violets. Great elegance, pure fruit flavours, fleshy velvety tannins, powerful and with a very long finish.

The soils at Quinta da Romaneira are predominantly schist, with a laminated structure that facilitates drainage and allows the vine roots to penetrate deeply to reach nutrients and moisture. This type of soil is poor in organic matter, which promotes low yields per vine, favouring high quality grapes. The steep slope of the slopes also contributes to excellent sun exposure, ideal for the ripening of the grapes. The average age of the vines is 20 years for red varieties and 15 years for white varieties. The entire vineyard is grafted onto R99, R110 and 1103P rootstocks. Grapes are by necessity hand harvested due to the steepness of the slopes.
The grapes were crushed by foot to extract the must, and they were then allowed to macerate in the traditional open stainless steel vats, known as lagares at the Quinta. This method was chosen to achieve the best extraction of colour, flavours, and phenolic compounds, followed by a 5-year maturation process in oak casks.
This wine is unfiltered and will continue to develop in the bottle. As a result, it may throw a light deposit and need decanting.
