A vivid expression of the Verdejo grape, with its characteristic notes of fennel, green apple, cut hay and peach, this wine is also imbued with an extra depth and richness in the mouth. A very satisfying, fuller-bodied style of Rueda.
Finca Montepedroso is the latest venture of the enterprising Martínez Bujanda family. This Rueda property was bought in 2008, with 2010 being the début vintage. Following the family philosophy, the wine comes solely from the estate’s own vineyards.
The vineyard consists of twenty-five hectares of Verdejo, planted at 750 metres above sea level. The grapes were harvested in the third week of September.
The must was fermented slowly, using wild yeast, in temperaturecontrolled stainless steel tanks, with twenty-four hours’ initial skin contact giving additional aroma. After fermentation the wine spent five months on lees with weekly batonnage before bottling. No oak was used in the production.
