Upfront aromas of black cherry, violet and maple are followed by complex flavours on the palate of blackcurrant, red plum and cocoa. This is full bodied, with finely grained tannins and an intense and lengthy finish.
The grapes for this wine come from Napa vineyards ranging from Yountville in the south to St Helena in the north.
Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels, around a third of which are new, for eighteen months. The wine was then racked and bottled unfiltered.

Founded in 1857 by the self-proclaimed ‘Count of Buena Vista’ Agoston Haraszthy, Buena Vista pioneered the production of high quality wines in California. Here he introduced ground-breaking viticultural practices such as dry-farming and hillside planting as well as constructing California’s first gravity fed winery. Following several changes in ownership, the historic winery was purchased in 2011 by the Boisset family from Burgundy. Under Jean-Charles Boisset the winery has undergone extensive renovation and the Count’s original vision is being pursued with renewed vigour.
