A real pleasure to drink, with ample upfront red fruit and the classic structure and acidity that have become a hallmark for Cobb wines. This wine will age for years like all of Ross's wines, but this bottling can be thoroughly enjoyed the year it is released.
Over the history of Cobb Wines, Ross has had the privilege of working with an array of high quality vineyards throughout the region. After 20 years of bottling small amounts of single vineyard wines from the appellation, Cobb has released the first blend representing the best from the Sonoma Coast. Having amassed a range of different sites on the western edges of the coast, Ross has put together a wine that showcases both his style of winemaking and the cool climate nature of the Sonoma Coast. The fruit came from the Doc's Ranch, Abigail's, Emmaline Ann, Hopen and Mes Filles vineyards.
The grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks using 70% whole clusters following a fourteen-day cold soak. The wine was matured for seventeen months in French oak barriques, 60% of which were new.

In 2001, renowned grape grower David Cobb joined forces with his winemaker son Ross to found Cobb Wines. Marine biologist David planted his Coastlands vineyard in 1989, becoming one of the very first growers to explore the potential of the ’extreme' Sonoma Coast, a few miles from the ocean. Ross gained valuable experience with Pinot at Williams Selyem and Flowers, and for six years was winemaker at Hirsch Vineyards while also releasing wines under the family name. Many Californian winemakers claim a love of burgundy, but Ross's regular visits seem to have had a more profound effect than most. His are among the state's most delicate Pinots, as well as telling expressions of place.
