Brimming with bold dark fruits, the Malbec brings subtle notes of violets, whilst the Carmenère adds spice. The tannins are rich and well-rounded, perfectly complementing the juicy fruit and fresh acidity.
The Carmenère vines were planted over 20 years ago on granite soils at the Melozal estate, near to the Loncomilla River. The Malbec vines were planted over fifty years ago at La Constancia estate, on colluvial clay soils.
The grapes were hand-harvested into 10kg cases, with bunch selection in the vineyards, and berry by berry sorting at the winery. Following a 3-day cold soak, the wine was fermented in tank with a 21-25-day maceration period. It was then passed to a mix of 225 and 2000-litre French oak barrels and foudres, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and 12 months' ageing, before light filtration and bottling.

Morandé was founded in 1996 by Pablo Morandé, and found immediate recognition both domestically and abroad. Morandé are true pioneers – they were the first family to develop the Casablanca D.O., recognising the fantastic potential of this cool-climate wine region. They also led the way in reviving old viticultural regions such as Maule and Itata, working with old dry-farmed bush vines and unconventional varieties such as Carignan, País and Cinsault. All of the wines are produced with grapes from Morandé’s own vineyards. Their winemaking philosophy is guided by seeking the right terroir for each grape variety, and with significant vineyard holdings they are well placed to achieve this.
