This wine is intense ruby red in colour. On the nose, the cherry aromas are pronounced and married with notes of prune, pomegranate, clove and dried herbs. A full-bodied warm and delicious wine with a pleasantly fresh and long finish.
The vineyard sites are located close to the cities of Brindisi and Lecce to the Southeast of Puglia, lying close to the Adriatic coast. Here, the warm and always windy climate provides the ideal growing condition needed to produce the best expression of Salice Salentino.
The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed upon arrival at the winery. Fermentation took place at controlled temperatures for 8-10 days with regular pumping over. The wine was then racked to stainless-steel tanks to undergo malolactic conversion. Maturation took place in used American and French oak barriques for around 8 to 10 months.

Vigneti del Salento, is part of the Fantini group, founded by Valentino Sciotti in 1994 to produce top-quality wine from Abruzzo and (later) southern Italy as a whole.
Their Puglian wines are made at two wineries in the province of Taranto, on the western flank of Salento, by resident winemaker Danilo Gizzi and consultant winemaker Filippo Baccalaro. Filippo, a native of Piemonte, has been working in Puglia for almost two decades. He was originally attracted to the region by the rich, ripe flavours of the grapes that grow there. Filippo consistently aims to capture these flavours with minimal use of technology but a lot of know-how.
