More info

This wine is crafted from grapes sourced from distinct parcels within the Finca El Oasis estate. The Malbec vineyards, planted in 2000, are located at 1,200 metres above sea level, while the Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in 2012, sits at 1,100 metres, and the Petit Verdot, also planted in 2000, lies at 1,150 metres. All vineyards share the same soil profile: shallow, rocky terrain with excellent permeability and low organic matter. The low-yielding vines are trained on a double cordon trellis system using VSP (vertical shoot positioning), a method considered ideal for balancing production and quality. Thoughtful canopy management, ensures optimal ripening and herbicide use is minimised. Advanced drip irrigation technology, combined with careful vineyard monitoring, allows for precise water management and the preservation of water resources.

The grapes were harvested using state-of-the-art machinery and destemmed in the vineyard, ensuring only the berries reached the winery. These were then transferred to tanks for cold maceration. Remontage was carried out four times daily during fermentation. Post-fermentation maceration on the skins followed, accompanied by regular tastings. After racking, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation. The three varietals were then blended and aged in contact with French and American oak before bottling.

Bodegas Salentein

Bodegas Salentein is nestled in the picturesque Uco Valley just south of Mendoza. In 1996, Dutch entrepreneur Mijndert Pon purchased the estate in what initially seemed to be a rocky desert. He ambitiously embarked on planting vineyards at high altitudes with the aim of producing ‘wines like no other.’ A year later, construction of the magnificent cross-shaped winery began. The four wings of the landmark winery each ferment the wines before gravity transfers it to the underground cellars. The high-altitude vines are planted at an elevation of between 1,050 and 1,600 metres, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Andes Mountains. At this altitude, the vines benefit from optimal diurnal temperature differences and a diverse terroir in which they flourish. Today, Bodegas Salentein is one of the most admired Argentine wineries - not just in the Uco Valley, but in the world. Their focus is producing terroir-driven wines which express the essence of the Uco Valley, and they do so with great purity and finesse.
