More info

The grapes are sourced from various parcels within the Finca El Oasis estate vineyards, located at an elevation of 1,150 to 1,200 meters. Planted in 2000, these vines thrive in shallow, rocky soils characterised by excellent permeability and low organic content. The low-yielding vines are trained on a double cordon trellis system, promoting balance and controlled growth. Precise drip irrigation and meticulous canopy management techniques ensure optimal grape ripening. The vineyard also employs the Vertical Shoot Position (VSP) training method, chosen for its perceived optimal balance between production and quality within the Uco Valley terroir. The use of herbicides is minimised as much as possible. Irrigation is implemented through advanced drip irrigation technology, carefully monitored to conserve water resources and ensure vines receive precisely what they need. Green pruning practices further enhance polyphenol development and overall grape quality.

The grapes were harvested using state-of-the-art machinery and destemmed in the vineyard, ensuring only the best berries arrived at the winery. The berries were transferred to tanks for cold maceration. During fermentation, remontage took place four times daily. Post-fermentation maceration on the marc followed, with continuous tasting to monitor development. After racking, the wine underwent malolactic conversion, followed by ageing with French and American oak staves for eight months.

Bodegas Salentein

Bodegas Salentein is nestled in the picturesque Uco Valley just south of Mendoza. In 1996, Dutch entrepreneur Mijndert Pon purchased the estate in what initially seemed to be a rocky desert. He ambitiously embarked on planting vineyards at high altitudes with the aim of producing ‘wines like no other.’ A year later, construction of the magnificent cross-shaped winery began. The four wings of the landmark winery each ferment the wines before gravity transfers it to the underground cellars. The high-altitude vines are planted at an elevation of between 1,050 and 1,600 metres, against the breathtaking backdrop of the Andes Mountains. At this altitude, the vines benefit from optimal diurnal temperature differences and a diverse terroir in which they flourish. Today, Bodegas Salentein is one of the most admired Argentine wineries - not just in the Uco Valley, but in the world. Their focus is producing terroir-driven wines which express the essence of the Uco Valley, and they do so with great purity and finesse.
