Pulenta Estate X Gran Malbec 2021
Combining both intensity and freshness with aplomb, the Gran Malbec is redolent with bright cherry fruit and floral complexity on the nose, followed by ripe plums, vanilla and toasty oak on the palate. The silky tannins unfold through the mid-palate, leading to a bold and lengthy finish.
The grapes come from a high altitude vineyard planted in Gualtallary, Tupungato in 2008, as well as the Don Antonio vineyard planted in 1981. The grapes were harvested by hand.
The grapes were hand sorted and selected in the winery before undergoing 48 hours of cold maceration at 8˚C, followed by fermentation with 21 days of maceration in small stainless-steel tanks, roll fermenters and oak barrels, with spontaneous malolactic fermentation occurring in barrel. This was followed by 18 months’ ageing in French oak barrels (20% new, 40% second use, 40% third use).

Pulenta Estate was founded in 2002 by brothers Hugo and Eduardo Pulenta, fourth-generation winemakers, with the goal of translating their family legacy and their father´s pioneering spirit into a modern, innovative winery focused on producing limited quantities of great wines. They have quickly carved out a reputation for precise, elegant wines across a range of varieties and premium price points. The estate consists of two vineyards located in key areas of Mendoza: Finca La Zulema in Agrelo and Viñedos Don Antonio in Los Arboles, a district of the Uco Valley. These contrasting vineyards have complex alluvial soils and distinct altitudes which, when blended, help give Pulenta wines their distinctive style, combining finesse, silky texture and elegance with the typical power and depth of fruit that is expected of Argentinian wines.
